Bicep Tendonitis has been a common occurrence in my office lately! Patients generally report the feeling of a deep ache directly in the front and top of the shoulder, around the head of the humerus or deltoid.

Here’s the rundown:

  • Bicep Tendonitis is the inflammation of the tendon that attaches the biceps muscle to the shoulder or forearm

  • Overuse from certain types of work or sports activities is the most common cause

  • BT can be subtle or have a direct cause of injury

  • The inflammation causing BT can also be a result from other related injuries such as rotator cuff tears or shoulder arthritis

What can we do about Bicep Tendonitis?

  • -Treat it! I treat BT with cupping, active release, and muscle scraping.

  • -Rehab it! We go through simple drills for you to do at home to strengthen the muscles around the tendon without overworking it.

  • -Rest it! Typically, any tendon injury needs at least 6 weeks of consistent treatment and rehab before returning to 100% of your working capacity at your activity level!
